We have had a large number of requests for this style of course and hope that it will appeal to the trainer as well as the chef in you!
We have joined forces with the Wykham Arms, Sibford Gower to offer half a days Gundog training followed with a half day’s cookery course involving locally sourced game – Damian and Debbie Bradley, proprietors of the Wykham arms have specially opened up their kitchens to allow you to get hands on with the game we would find on our local shoots and how to turn these into delicious meals.
There will be a 3 course meal to follow at the end with half a bottle of wine per person to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
The day will start at 9.30am with tea and coffee. We will then head out into the fields for some intensive training, picking up on any faults that have materialised throughout the season and working towards a training plan for the summer months.
We will stop for tea and coffee around 11.30am giving time to ask questions and request specific training advice for the second half of the morning. We’ll train until 1.15pm where there will then be time to get out of the waterproofs and wellies before heading up to the Wykham arms for Coffee – Damian, proprietor and chef will give a briefing on how the second half of the day will run and then it’s time to don the aprons and make your way to the kitchens to get hands on! When in the kitchen, Damien has requested no high heels or trainers – a pair of rubber soled shoes is recommended.
Starter - Game terrine using Damians’ own recipe
Main – Loin of Venison
Dessert – A selection of locally sourced cheeses
The cooking experience will finish at circa 5pm where you will be able to dine in the restaurant. At this stage we have opened up the experience to allow partners to join you for dinner at a very reasonable fixed rate.
Whilst the masterchefs are hard at work we have not forgotten our 4 legged friends who have worked hard in the morning – We are offering kennelling and walking for the afternoon as well as feeding if required, (own food will need to be provided), this gives peace of mind that the dogs are in good hands and happy. At the end of your day we will then chauffeur the dogs up to the restaurant so that you can continue your journey home – or if the mood takes you, stop with us a for a pint of beer!
This is a unique course offering and one that we hope all will find fun whilst learning the tricks of the trade.
The course is strictly limited to 6 people to avoid overcrowding in the kitchen, to ensure you get to see all that is going on, and to get ‘hands on’.
We have kept the cost of the first two courses at a bare minimum to gauge interest so now is your chance to grab a real bargain – the total cost of the course is £175 per person, which includes all training, the cooking experience, 3 course meal with half a bottle of wine and kennelling for your dog. Should your partners wish to join you at the end (good excuse to get them to drop you off in the morning so that you can really enjoy the wine!), their meal will be fixed at £13.50 – this does not include drinks.
The first course date is January 27th
The second course will be run on February 24th
